Project Summary: The Miyo Maskikiy/Miyo Macihowin project’s overall goal was to educate the community about the impacts of climate change on traditional medicines via language and cultural knowledge’s. By educating and bringing awareness of the climate change impacts locally the community was able to create a collective plan to mitigate risks. They trained four youth on how to use multimedia (technological training in Videography, editing software and record management and other media platforms for media uploads) which they used to record: interviews with elders; community information workshops; surveys; and focus groups. These four youth received work experience and school credit for participating in the project. Throughout the project all resources were compiled in a Traditional Knowledge Learning Pod which they created for ongoing education and training. An adaptation plan was created based on the overall results of the project to secure a future which meets the health needs of the community.
