Title: Promoting Resilience and Self Sufficiency through the Transfer of Traditional Knowledge in Cold Lake First Nations​

Project Summary:  Cold Lake First Nation conducted their project in summer of 2017 that involved a mixture of training and development activities designed to foster the exchange of traditional ecological knowledge between youth and Elders. Introducing the new traditional ecological skills to the community help people prepare for the impacts of climate change on traditional food supplies. Cold Lake First Nation supported this work through gardening and fishing, each components provided traditional knowledge. Community members and youth constructed over 100 gardens and taught numerous valuable skills for gardening and preservation techniques including canning and smoking of produce and fish.
